In 1974, Spirit World began its journey to become an Omaha tradition. Spirit World was originally a warehouse-style liquor store started by respected local businessman Denny Lewis. During the first fifteen years of operation, the store moved locations, expanded premium offerings, and added a gourmet deli to help better serve area residents.

Over the years, Spirit World became known as Omaha's top destination for great food and spirits. Spirit World became the only place in town to get the best wines and beers from around the world, and the deli became the hottest lunch spot in Midtown. In 2008, Lewis retired and the local team of Laurie Hellbusch Wolford and Anne Hellbusch purchased the store with a vision of maintaining Spirit World’s legacy while bringing it new life.

Today, Spirit World strives to deliver premium food and spirits to Omaha residents with the best possible service in town. "Spirit World is an Omaha institution, which we intend to honor and maintain. We have so many great customers who have been visiting for years. We also want to bring the store to life for a whole new generation in Omaha. We want everyone to know that they can trust Spirit World to be their friendly destination for great food and drinks," promises Laurie.
